Life Keeps Moving Forward

So, the interview yesterday went better than anticipated. For once, it actually felt like more of a discussion than a barrage of unnecessary and somewhat confusing questions. I sat with the recruiter and chatted for close to an hour. At the end of it he said he would set up a time with the department head for a second interview. So, I have another interview scheduled for tomorrow afternoon :)

Yay!

*keep wallet in check*

I wouldn't say I'm doing better at keeping my anticipatory spending in check, I've just repurposed it. Instead of going out and buying Starbucks, a magazine, or something along those lines, I picked up my groceries instead.

Itch scratched, belly full. I still need to get rid of the itch though.

My money nerves are getting a little more raw the longer I go without a pay check. I haven't had to touch the money in my emergency savings account yet, but it's getting close. I'll have to move the money over soon.

I just want to get back to my regular debt repayment schedule. It was less stressful than this.

Congrats! I think getting a second interview is pretty much an in. Even if you have to tie into your emergency fund... that's what it's there for.

Thanks :)

I still have to impress the Engineer, who's an intense, outspoken ex-military guy. *fingers crossed*

I hope that I can get away without touching it. That way I can turn right back to debt repayment while I keep building the emergency reserves.

You'll get there! Just think of this little setback as an opportunity to blog about things you normally wouldn't blog about (like being unemployed).

You didn't say whether you were actually turned down by the other two companies you interviewed with. Who knows, you may end up with multiple offers that you can leverage to get more money from the ideal position!

I'm definitely enjoying the freedom to blog! It's definitely been tweaking the way I view things. I haven't heard back from the other companies yet, but they also said it would be at least a week before I hear back from them. We shall see!

Good luck!

Good for you to be able to go this long without touching the EF. I had to use up almost all of mine (it was small) when I was unemployed in October of last year.

Keep up the good work. And Good Luck!!! (hoping that if I send you lots of positive vibes it will help) :-)

I'll take the positive vibes! Thanks! :D

I think talking to the engineer will likely be easier... Usually HR is all about behavioral questions while engineers tend to focus on technical questions and specifics about your experience. This is an opportunity to show case and brag about your accomplishments.

I dig the blog! It took me 6 months to get my electrical engineering job, I definitely know the pain, especially with the student loans starting! Hope you do great on interview #2! :)

Good luck on the 2nd interview.

Coming from an engineering background myself, I also think that the engineer part of the interview might be better since you get to demonstrate your skills and not have to worry too much about answering HR questions.

Keep us posted of how it goes.

Thank you everyone! I think the good mojo definitely helped! I have a 3rd "interview" on Monday where they'll be showing me the facility/letting me talk to current employees privately to make sure I'm really interested in working with them! More to follow when I have something solid! :)
