Disgusted

I tried to return a light bulb tonight without a receipt.

There wasn't anything wrong with the lightbulb itself, it was just too big for the socket I needed to put it in. I knew going into the store that they may not be able to take it back without the receipt, but I figured I'd try anyway.

Sure enough, I couldn't return it. I got the song and dance about promotional pricing and how I might have bought it on sale and then tried to return it at full price, or how I could have bought it somewhere else.

I turned around to leave with my oversized lightbulb, and the store clerk said I could try to return it to Wal-Mart.

Excuse me?

I turned back around and told the clerk there was no way I was going to defraud another company trying to return a light bulb I bought from them.

I'm appalled. The store develops a return policy based on the assumption that everyone is a crook, then turns around and suggests people become one when they can't return a product? I'm downright disgusted. I may be a bit tight on cash right now, but there is no way I'm going side step my morals for $16.

Maybe I can fit the lightbulb in a lamp. *sigh*

That is so shady! Companies like that are the WORST.

that's weird that they wouldnt let you return it. Usually they put the amount on a gift card for whatever the price it is at now.

@FB - I'm considering it.

@Daisy - I agree.

@Erica - I would have been okay with a gift card, but it wasn't something that was offered.

That's awful.

Good for having a conscience, and stooping to their fraud levels.

Wow. that's really out there. I guess the employee was just trying to be helpful but yeah... that's a lil unethical.
